GUNi Academic Seminar in GUNi Secretariat, Barcelona during May 23-24, 2016. This Seminar is to discuss the issues aroused in the next GUNi Report titled Higher Education in the World 6. Towards Socially Responsible Higher Education: Balancing Global and Local Engagement.
This issue of the GUNi Report, to be published on December 2016, aims to analyze the dual responsibilities of universities at local and global scale, exploring the potential conflict, or intrinsic difficulties, in addressing both local demands of society based on the race for global competitiveness and global demands for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals stated in the 2030 UN Agenda. So far, 30 main authors from 20 countries have committed to contribute to this report. The Editorial Team for this GUNi Report, together with Prof. Budd Hall (Canada), Dr Rajesh Tandon (India), Prof. Ellen Hazelkorn (Ireland) and Prof. John Goddard (UK).
Each Higher Education in the World Report is a collective work with a specific subject chosen for each edition. Since today, GUNi has published five issues plus a synthesis of the three first reports commissioned by UNESCO for the World Conference on Higher Education held in Paris in 2009.
