The World Science Day for Peace and Development, celebrated annually on 10 November, was established by UNESCO in 2001 to highlight the importance of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on contemporary issues relevant to science. The theme of the 2020 celebration is Science for and with Society.
UNESCO and partners plan organizing a hybrid event, to raise awareness on “Science for and with Society” in dealing with the global pandemic, and long-term environmental crisis, along with a discussion on open science recommendations.
