Amidst rapid developments of the University campuses, infrastructure, new approaches to teaching and research, it was been witnessed that relationships with the local and global communities has undergone a redefinition. With each institution facing the synergies and tensions between being a global and a civic institution, Bristol University conducted a session, “Towards a Socially Responsible Civic University: Balancing the Global and the Local” on 30th May 2019. Dr. Rajesh Tandon, Founder President of PRIA and Co-Chair, UNESCO Chair on Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education was invited as the key-note speaker. In his address, Dr. Tandon discussed how universities could reconcile their “global” and “local” roles. Reflecting upon his experience, he further elaborated on how working locally while addressing the global challenges was much required.
