Dr Rajesh Tandon shared the journey of participatory research with faculty and students of University of Durham on December 8, 2016.

Dr Sarah Banks and her colleagues have been promoting field research aimed at community actions for social justice. Their work on training next generation of researchers is an important component of K4C consortium led by UNESCO Chair on Community-based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education.

Major interest among the participants centered around changing nature of funding of research high makes flexible and responsive research in partnership with local communities difficult. Larger context is also less supportive of innovative and transformative education. Yet, the voices of Brexit in northern England confirm the need for inclusion of such voices and perspectives in policy dialogues. This may well be an opportunity for promoting CBR locally, and working closely with communities.
