The UNESCO Chair convened a week-long proposal writing workshop from August 15-19, 2016, at the University of Victoria, Canada. This workshop was aimed to give shape to the proposal that the Chair will soon be submitting to the SSHRC as the second part of the Next Gen Project (https://unescochair-cbrsr.org/index.php/2014/07/18/building-the-next-generation-of-community-based-researchers-the-nextgen-project/). The Chair recently winded up the the first phase of the Project with a series of events under the ‘Festival of Learning’ which was conducted in four states in India, in collaboration with various universities in the month of April, 2016. Further, this phase also produced a book (to be available soon) and a manual (https://unescochair-cbrsr.org/pdf/FINAL_Training_the_Next_Generation_2016.pdf) which focuses on training the next generation researchers in Community Based Research (CBR).

As the Chair completed a successful week-long proposal writing workshop, the team members got together to celebrate the occasion in the form of a group picnic! Watch this space for further developments under our proposal submission and the exciting phase under the second term of the UNESCO Chair!
