The DECODE Global Funders Consultation

Date(s): 14/04/2026 - 14/04/2026
Location : Online

On 14 April 2026, the DECODE team convened the Global Funders Consultation to reflect on key learnings from the DECODE project- particularly on how funding systems can better support community-led and Indigenous-led participatory research.

Drawing on two years of experience in funding, enabling, and learning from such research processes, the DECODE team presented a new paper exploring what these approaches mean for building more sustainable, just, and climate-resilient futures. The paper was discussed with representatives from funding organisations across the world.

The dialogue that followed was rich and forward-looking. Participants shared valuable insights from their own funding frameworks, priorities, and institutional practices, while collectively exploring how these experiences might inform the development of a more comprehensive global guide for funders committed to equitable and transformative research.

This consultation marks an important step in DECODE’s growing global advocacy efforts to reshape how knowledge is supported, valued, and mobilised. The paper will soon be available in the public domain.

Report and Paper coming soon.
